I am a traditionally published author and established line editor, copy editor, and proofreader with almost 20 years of experience. As a fellow writer, I understand that my job as your copy editor is not to force your style or prose into being something it’s not; it’s to blend your voice with the rules of grammar and syntax in a way that respects and reflects who you are as an author. What I Offer

Developmental Editing

This is a big-picture edit focused on overarching elements of your book. I take a look at plot arcs, character arcs, themes, setting, and overall cohesion and do a deep-dive into what’s working and what isn’t. You’ll get a full edit letter and, optionally, a follow-up video chat to discuss my feedback.
Pricing: $0.02 per word

Line Editing

I take a line-by-line look at your work, focusing on style and flow, pointing out pacing and character inconsistencies, uneven flow, repeated words or phrases (your writing “tics”), and so on. While I won’t remark on big-picture, developmental edits, I will ensure your book is internally consistent and reads fluently. Copy editing essentials are also included.
Pricing: $0.012 per word

Copy Editing

Somewhere in between a line edit and a proofread, this sticks to the more technical side of things, focusing on clarity, grammar, readability, word usage, and consistency, including fact-checking. I’ll flag any repetitive words or phrases (writing “tics”) and ensure everything makes sense.
Pricing: $0.009 per word

Proofreading

At the proofreading level, I’m focusing on the basics: spelling, punctuation, grammar, noticeable errors, and other clean-up work to ensure your work is as tight as possible. Light fact-checking and internal consistency will also be factored in, but it’ll mostly be about the most obvious issues.
